1% for Good Charitable Foundation: Live Like Coco
Sereno 1% For Good Charitable Foundation believes we should all live like Coco. That’s why our Coastal team is supporting Live Like Coco with a Community Impact Grant.
We had the honor of giving their Executive Director, Kate Pavao, their check today. Kate said their all volunteer based staff is so relieved to have the funding, so that they can concentrate on picking out the perfect individualized books for their Birthday program.
“All kids should be able to grow up healthy, with the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”
This is something Coco believed. And now, the Live Like Coco Foundation is dedicated to the pursuit of the same goal.
Live Like Coco helps kids in Santa Cruz County grow up healthy and with opportunities to pursue their dreams. We are named and inspired by Coco Lazenby, a self-described “book lover, cat petter and environmentalist” who was killed in a car accident in August 2015 when she was 12. To honor Coco’s bright spirit and big heart, their foundation works in four areas that make a difference in her life: Literacy, nature, health & wellness and scholarship funding for kids to try extra-curricular activities.
During her life, Coco worked in community gardens, participated in beach cleanups, collected jeans for homeless teens, and raised money to support a number of worthy causes. Now, the Live Like Coco Foundation provides thousands of Santa Cruz county kids with free books as well as scholarships to extra-curricular activities.
What does it mean to Live Like Coco?
“Coco Lazenby was a kid with a big heart. The Live Like Coco Foundation celebrates her spirit–and continues her work.”
