Real Estate Company Sereno Selects Next Local Nonprofit for Community Action Grant
SANTA CRUZ, CA
Local real estate company Christie’s International Sereno has chosen Pajaro Valley Shelter Services as its grant recipient for second quarter 2022 as part of its ongoing 1% For Good charitable giving program.
Pajaro Valley Shelter Services’ focus is on moving families out of homelessness and into self- sufficiency through emergency shelter, short and longer-term housing, and supportive services.
PVSS began in 1983 as a small shelter for women and children, and has grown into a sustainable solution resource for hundreds of local families. They work in conjunction with other local agencies to provide coordinated case management support which helps each family develop a written individual life plan focused on self-sufficiency goals.
These goals include education, housing, employment, mental health, immigration, English as a second language, budgeting and parenting, as well as key financial management skills to assist them in managing their resources.
Christie’s Sereno 1% For Good program just went over the $5 million mark in charitable giving in its 10-year anniversary year. The program’s first donation in 2012 was a $5,000 gift to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Association Search and Rescue group. Monarch Services, a local nonprofit that helps victims of domestic violence, was the grant recipient for first quarter 2022.
Over the last ten years, Sereno has grown to include 19 company offices employing more than 600 agents in the Central Coast, South Bay, Peninsula, East Bay and Sierra/Tahoe regions of Northern California. And most recently Sereno announced their new partnership with Christie’s International Real Estate, the world’s premier luxury real estate firm and brand.
Under its auspices, Sereno agents voluntarily commit 1% of their gross commissions to support nonprofits working in local communities. To date, Sereno’s 1% donations have been awarded to more than 300 community organizations.
Pajaro Valley Shelter Services will receive their grant check in July. Local nonprofits are invited to get more information on the 1% For Good grant application process by contacting Tom Brezsny Coastal VP of Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno 831-818-1431.
