Sunnyvale

About Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale, often referred to as “the City of Destiny,” developed from early agricultural roots shaped by fertile soil and open land well suited for orchards. Today, the city blends a suburban residential environment with cultural amenities and a diverse economic base that spans technology, biotech, aerospace, communications, and manufacturing. With a population exceeding 130,000, Sunnyvale has grown into one of the major employment and residential hubs in Silicon Valley.

The city is home to Moffett Federal Airfield and longstanding aerospace and defense employers, along with a strong presence from major technology companies. Sunnyvale’s business landscape includes a mix of established corporate campuses and newer commercial centers, including the Sunnyvale Town Center area and nearby business parks that support office, research, and innovation driven uses.

Sunnyvale places a strong emphasis on public services, offering an extensive park system and a unified public safety model that combines fire and police services. The city is also known for its public school options, with most neighborhoods served by the Sunnyvale School District. Some areas fall within the Cupertino Union School District or Santa Clara Unified School District, which can influence buyer interest and pricing. High school students are primarily served by the Fremont Union High School District, including Homestead High School and Fremont High School.

Sunnyvale is organized into four primary zip codes. Areas north of Highway 101 include a mix of residential neighborhoods and newer townhome and condominium developments. Central portions of the city encompass the downtown core and civic facilities, while neighborhoods south of El Camino Real are largely residential and closely tied to school attendance boundaries.
